The
database is made up of three parts - the terminology or biblio-
graphy lists, the graphical view of concept system and the terminology
data or the bibliography data - and apart from that there exists
a search function. |

 |
|
Choosing
the language and entering the search words
The form on the left
at the top corner can be used to change the language (1),
to choose between terminology and bibliography list (2) and
to tip in the search words (3).
|
The Fuzzy search
(4)
With the help of the fuzzy search you can
find entries which are similar to the search word or entries which
contain the search words. You can set the fuzzy index in order to
determine the degree of similarity. The smaller the degree of similarity,
the more terms will be returned by the fuzzy search.
The search determines the amount of common letters contained in
both words, and so it can happen that some of the terms that were
found have nothing to do with the meaning of the search word.
The
terminology list
With the alphabetical sorted
list you can have direct access to the terminology entries
in the database which will be then displayed on the right
of the browser screen. Apart from that you obtain an overview
of the terms that the database contains. Entries in parentheses
are subject headings and do not contain any grammatical information,
definitions or contexts.

The
list of bibliographical sources
The alphabetically sorted
list contains all the sources indicated in the entries, which
in general consist of the name of the author and the details
of publication.
With a click on a bibliography link the corresponding bibliographical
entry will be shown on the right:
|
 |
The
concept system
On the right hand side of
the browser screen is displayed the concept system, in which
the terms that appear in the database are brought into a hierarchical
relationship with each other.
The concept system is easy to use:
- With a click
on the + sign of a branch you can open the branch and show
the terms underneath.
- With a click
on the – sign you can close this branch.
- With a click
on a term you can display on the right hand side the corresponding
entry.
Terms in parentheses
are subject headings and do not contain any grammatical information,
definitions or contexts.

The
terminology entries
The heading of each terminology entry contains general
information on the database, such as subject field, Lenoch
code, author and notation of the entry which determines its
position within the concept system, as well as, in some cases,
a comment on the entry.
The names of the term in the different languages, marked with
the corresponding flag of the country, follow directly after
the heading.
The names are explained by definitions and contexts, for which
the sources are given in short form, coloured blue.
With a click on this blue-coloured bibliography link you come
to the display of the complete bibliography entry (see above).
Definitions and contexts often contain blue-coloured links
to other terms of the database. When you click on one of these,
the fuzzy search is started and a list with the entry, as
well as similar terms, is displayed on the left hand side.
